About TIPS
The Tennessee Infant-Parent Services (TIPS) School is a Department of Education special school system that provides home-based early intervention services for families with children from birth to the age of three who qualify for the services. A TIPS professional visits each family on a weekly basis for a one-hour session. The TIPS professional works with the family to determine their priorities and tailors a program designed to achieve their interests. Families referred to TIPS have varied needs. The TIPS program is unique to each family.
There are currently over 300 Parent Advisors that serve over 3,000 special needs children throughout the state of Tennessee. TIPS of Middle Tennessee serves families in the following counties:
Cookeville Office: Macon, Smith,
Clay, Pickett, Jackson, Overton, Fentress, Putnam, Dekalb, White, Cumberland,
Cannon, Warren, Van Buren
Murfreesboro Office: Perry,
Hickman, Lewis, Wayne, Laurence, Giles, Maury, Williamson, Rutherford, Marshall,
Bedford, Moore, Lincoln, Coffee, Franklin
Nashville Office: Wilson,
Sumner, Trousdale, Davidson, Cheatham, Dickson, Robertson, Montgomery
Qualifying For TIPS
This service is provided free to families, and
is offered by the Tennessee Department of Education. Participation in the
program is completely voluntary and is offered to children from birth to three
who reside in the State of Tennessee and meet the state definition of developmental
delays. TIPS serves families with children who are developmentally
delayed and therefore eligible for early intervention services (Part C eligibility:
[a] 25% in two or more areas or 40% in one area or [b] diagnosed with hearing,
vision, and or other disabilities. TIPS also serves children with developmental
delays such as prematurity).
